LAUREL WOODCOCK

advisory warning, 1997

This small installation consists of 2 small glass shelves. One displays a 2” LCD monitor depicting looped documentary footage of a tornado, the other proffers cards (business format) with a text culled and slightly altered from a horoscope which uses weather as a metaphor for inner turmoil. The ‘real’ threat of the tornado is miniaturized in the small screen, while the ‘fictional’ warning of the horoscope is magnified in the helping hand and contextualized in the economical realm of the business card.
