… causes suspicion about best seller and top ten lists.
After compiling long lists of films that might have made it on either of these lists, I restricted myself to choosing only one for each year and each letter. This method of selection eliminated some of my favourite films (as more than one begins with B) and necessitated including some that I dislike. Formally the two lists are presented side-by-side mimicking scrolling end credits of a film. The list is restricted to films available for rental, and the work is presented on a monitor. While the duration of the work is the length of a trailer, the films are not ‘coming soon’.
Two LED signs display the title of each list, and allude to the signage in cinemas, indicating which film is playing in which theatre above each door.
